BRIEF · CAMPAIGN MICROSITE AND MECHANICS

A campaign is a date you cannot miss.

This brief is for a campaign with something to do inside it: a quiz that recommends, a calculator, a configurator, a promo game, or a registration page that has to survive its own traffic. Six steps covering the goal, the mechanic, the data and the launch date. Agencies briefing on behalf of a brand are welcome, there is a question for that on the first screen.

Six steps, in this order

Who you are. Brand or agency, and which brand the campaign is for.

The campaign. What is being promoted, to whom, where the traffic comes from and the number that decides whether it worked.

The mechanic. What a visitor actually does, what they walk away with, and the logic behind the result. This step moves the price more than any other.

Data, systems and the legal bit. What you collect, where the leads land, which countries it runs in, who writes the terms.

Content and languages. Who supplies the text and the product data, and in how many languages it has to run.

Dates and the rest. Launch, end, what happens to the page afterwards.

Questions

We do not know which mechanic we want. Can we still send this?

Yes, and that is the most useful version of this brief. "You tell me, that is the question" is one of the answers on the mechanic step. Fill in the goal, the audience and the number that decides whether it worked, and the reply comes back with a recommendation and what each option would cost to build.

We are an agency. Does the quote go to us or to the brand?

To you. The first screen asks whether you are the brand or an agency, and the quote is written to match: referral, co-branded or white-label, with the margin already in it. Nothing goes to your client unless you send it.

What decides the price most?

The logic behind the result. A calculator with a formula you already use is quick. A configurator with two hundred product rules, or a prize game with terms per country, is not. That is why there is a whole question about the logic, and why a link to your existing spreadsheet is worth more than a paragraph describing it.

Can it launch on a fixed date?

That is the assumption. Campaign work is quoted against your launch date, and the approval chain is usually what puts it at risk, not the build. There is a question about who approves and how fast for exactly that reason.
